i haz a busy. oops.

oh hey, it's been a month and a half since i blogged last. oops.

well, hi.

updates regarding me:

tomorrow is the last day of my second round of the 21 day fix, and i've had really great results. i'm going to officially "measure in" tomorrow morning, but i think i'm probably down 12-13 inches, total,  which ain't too shabby.

work is great; i had my review this past thursday, and to say that boss lady/boss man met all my goals is an understatement. it's really important to me to be considered a go-to and trustworthy for my team, and all is well in that regard.

i'm also going to be trying to participate in nanowrimo this year for the first time in 2 or 3 years. this is intimidating, but important. i miss writing. i miss the tangible nature of the words pouring out of my fingertips onto a blank document, and i miss creating. my friends have asked what's going on with the last book i wrote during nanowrimo, and the quick answer is nothing but a lot of thoughts. i'm going to have to rework and rewrite it, but for this nano, i'm planning to try to focus on something else.

updates regarding b:

she's having a great time at her (still new) school, and the uniform piece isn't such an issue. my little fashionista has only made one comment all year about how she wishes she could wear something else. i think this is helped by the fact that she has free day on fridays so long as she brings a dollar for fundraising. this is well worth it for us, so we allow it every week, provided her behavior is on point all week.

i'm happy with the curriculum - it was an adjustment to see her having spelling and math tests, to be honest, but she's handling it like a champ. her school also has a gifted and talented program which i'll be looking into.

aside from that, she's hilarious, sassy, and sweet as ever. and growing like a freakin' weed.

so, other stuff....

meditation has taken a solid role in my life. while i don't necessarily sit down with the intention of meditating every day, i have taken to doing yoga at least once a week, and i also attended om on the dome this year, which was an amazing experience. meditating and chanting with a room full of people was unreal and the closest thing to a religious experience i've had in years. quite beautiful.

i'm still focusing on finding balance, particularly as the end of the year is fast approaching. basically, from late august through the new year, life is crazy for me and has been for as long as i can really remember. between school starting and a million birthdays, including my own, and halloween, christmas, and new years, it's just bonkers, but it's so awesome. i'm also focusing on getting my financial situation where i want it to be - paying things off, putting money in savings, saving for b, the whole nine. it's less intimidating than i believed it would be and i attribute that to the little bit of zen i've started keeping in my life. so, hey, thanks, universe.

fitness is a big focus for me too, and i've got the rest of 2014 and through march of 2015 planned. an updated version of the 21 day fix will release on february 2nd and i'll do that after i finish up p90 with tony horton. i'm getting into the best shape of my life, man. it plays into my zen, and it's just another form of my taking back the reigns of some areas of my life. exciting.

and also, we're moving in about 5 weeks. also exciting.

anyway, tonight a bunch of us are going to see a mutual friend's cover band play a 4 hour set at the highball and i am looking forward to it. now to figure out what the heck i'm going to wear.

hope you're all well.

namaste,
a
